OPENING DAY 16 APRIL: Pennsylvania is home to some of the best Trout fishing in the world and Timberland Bait has all your needs covered! Whether you’re looking to battle wits with wild Brook Trout on a small mountain run or land a trophy Brown or Rainbow Trout from one of our well-stocked streams and lakes, Timberland Bait has everything from licenses to trout stamps to tackle and, of course, bait.  Be sure to stop by the bait shop to take advantage of our door buster specials!

FISHING LICENSES: In addition to a fishing license, trout anglers 16 and older must posses a Trout/Salmon Permit (or Combination Trout-Salmon/Lake Erie Permit) to fish for trout. A Lake Erie Permit (or Combination Trout-Salmon/Lake Erie Permit) is also needed to fish for trout, salmon and steelhead in Lake Erie and its tributaries. (printer-friendly pricing poster)

NEW BAIT SHOP HOURS: From April thru Labor Day, the bait shop is open seven days a week, but hours vary by day.  Please call the bait shop at 814-694-FISH and listen to the answering machine for the hours of operation for that day/week. You may also call Jerry's cell at 814-882-8369. MORE INFO

TIMBERLAND BAIT OUTLETS: A small selection of our bait and terminal such as nightcrawlers and hooks may be found at two alternate locations:  Slocum's Store in Spartansburg, PA (814) 654-7119 and Saegertown Hardware in Saegertown, PA (814) 793-2795. Please call them in advance to check availability, and please before you purchase the bait, check to make sure it's alive.  



Our 11th annual Canadohta Lake ice tournament was one of our warmest, with highs near 63 degrees on Saturday.  100 anglers turned out.  The ice was solid underneath, despite the top layer of slush.    

Dates: February 20 & 21, 2016 

Temperature: Hi 63 (lo 40) on Saturday and Hi 46 (lo 30) on Sunday 

Turnout: 100 anglers

 BAIT AND TACKLE Timberland Bait has all your ice fishing needs covered from tip-ups and fishing licenses to augers and a wide variety of ice fishing tackle.  And of course, a great selection of live bait. Our public pond is free to fish in.  We have a large pavilion to rent for weddings or other events. ANTIQUE FISHING TACKLE WANTED Timberland Bait wants to pay you for your old lures and antique, vintage fishing tackle. Call Jerry at 814-694-FISH to set up an appointment at the bait shop to review your tackle, or send us an email ( with a picture. Collecting old lures is just a passion with us. We are interested in all fishing-related tackle including reels, rods, catalogs, advertising, minnow traps and buckets, creels, photos, lure boxes, tackle boxes, etc., not just fishing lures.
